William G. Collins, of Chesterton, passed away Thursday evening, February 26,
2009 at VNA Hospice Center, Valparaiso. He was 79.
He was born January 5, 1930 in Scottsdale, Pa. the son of Michael and Edith
(Rhodes) Collins, both of whom preceded him in death.
He was also preceded in death by his wife Sylvia J. Collins.
Bill is survived by a son, William (Peggy) Collins, Jr. of Wichita, Kan.; a
daughter, Patricia (Jim) Caldwell, of Valparaiso; five grandchildren, Kristin
(Troy) Tharp, Megan Caldwell, Katie Collins, Daniel Collins and Patrick
Collins; a brother, James Collins of West Newton, Pa. and a sister, Joann
Rodino, of Lake Station.
He was also preceded in death by a sister, Margaret Fiore.
Bill was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, Chesterton, a veteran of
the U.S. Army, and a retired manager for Midwest Steel Co. He was a member of
the Chesterton Moose Lodge #1623 and enjoyed traveling, photography and
video.
A
Mass of Christian Burial, Fr. James Meade officiating, will be offered at 11
a.m. Monday, March 2 at St. Patrick Church, 638 N. Calumet Rd., Chesterton.
Interment will follow at St. Patrick Cemetery, Chesterton.
The family will receive friends from 2-6 p.m. Sunday, March 1, at White-Love
Funeral Home, 525 S. 2nd St., Chesterton. Prayer service will be at 5:30 p.m.
Sunday at the funeral home.
