Shirley (Felker) Carr, 78, of Valparaiso passed away Friday, March 27, 2009 at her home.

She was born April 30, 1930 in Munhall, Pa. the daughter of Bertha (Gesselberty) and Donald Felker.

On January 25, 1949 in Gary, she married Robert L. Carr Sr., who preceded her in death.

She is survived by sons, William (Sara) Carr of Valparaiso, James Carr of Ga., David Carr of Westville; daughters, Lynn (Tom) Boo of Chesterton, Laurie (Joe) Mullet of Westville; daughter-in-law, Laura Carr, and her “special daughters” Pam Hay and Kathy Wahlman; 14 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by a brother, Donald W. Felker and a son, Robert L. Carr, Jr.

Shirley was a member of the Westville United Methodist Church and was also a foster parent for many years. She loved children and caring for her family.

Funeral services, Rev. Dr. Karen Altergott and Rev. William C. Babb III officiating, will be at 10 a.m., Wednesday, April 1 at Westville United Methodist Church. Interment will be at Graceland Cemetery, Valparaiso.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, March 31 at Newhard Funeral Home, 58 W. Walnut Street, Westville.
