Services set for Wayne Bachman

Chesterton resident Wayne Bachman, 79, died Tuesday, Oct. 6, 2009, in Valparaiso.

He was born in Rensselaer on Jan. 2, 1930, to Edward and Alice (Comer) Bachman, who preceded him in death.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy (Harvey) Bachman, of Chesterton; two sons, Jeff (Debbie) Bachman of Valparaiso and Dave (Cheryl) Bachman of Chesterton; two daughters, Cheryl (David) Lobsiger of Chesterton and Laurie (Scott) Wellman of Valparaiso; three sisters-in-law, Mickey Brown, Marian (George) Hicks, and Rita (John) Szabo, all of Florida; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his brothers, Fred Bachman, Ralph Bachman, and infant brother Kenny Bachman.

Wayne worked as an ironworker for 37 years and belonged to Ironworkers Local 395 in Hammond. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, served as a military policeman, and was a member of American Legion Post No. 777 in Indianapolis.

First and foremost Wayne loved his family, his job, gardening, nature, and his dogs, Bubba and Mugsy.

Funeral services will be private, arrangements by Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home, 517 Broadway in Chesterton.
