Lifelong Chesterton resident Miriam J. Carlisle, 87, died Saturday, Oct. 10,
2009, at The Waters of Duneland.
She was born Feb. 18, 1922, in Valparaiso, the daughter of Gerald and Agnes
(Ameling) Ream, who preceded her in death.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, Erle Carlisle, in 1977.
She is survived by three daughters, Sharon Tesh of Chesterton, Patricia
Carlisle (husband Edward Popkoski) of Toledo, Ohio, and Mary F. Carlisle of
Chesterton; two grandchildren, William Joseph (Jonetta) Tesh of Demotte and
Terri Tesh of Chesterton; a great-grandson, Derek Tesh of Demotte; a sister,
Mary Hill of Chesterton; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by siblings Margaret Boi, Kate Brooks, Bob Ream,
and Bill Ream; a son-in-law, Bill Tesh; and by three sisters-in-law and two
brothers-in-law.
Miriam was a lifelong member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, where she was
a member of the Adult Choir. Her greatest passion was playing guitar and
singing country songs for family and friends. She was a devoted wife,
mother, and grandmother.
A Mass of Christian Burial, Father James Meade officiating, is scheduled for
11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 15, at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 638 N. Calumet
Road in Chesterton, with burial to follow at Chesterton Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 14, at
White-Love Funeral Home, 525 S. Second St. in Chesterton. A prayer service
is scheduled at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at White-Love.
