Chesterton resident Daniel Houle Sr., 97, died Saturday, Nov. 14, 2009, at
the Life Care Center of Valparaiso.
He was born Jan. 5, 1912, in Canada.
On June 6, 1977, in Chesterton, he married Alberta Marie (Kleckner), who
survives in Chesterton.
He is also survived by a son, Jim Houle of Valparaiso; a daughter, Bonnie
Oke of Pennsylvania; a step-son, Al (Marcia) Gaston of Chesterton;
grandchildren, Mark (Connie) Houle, Debbie (Andy) Hirtz, Lori (David) Alicea,
Denise Houle, Danny Houle, Jane Pawlik, Jeff Pawlik, and Jim Pawlik; and
step-grandchildren, Debbie Gaston, Lisa Gaston, and Rob Gaston, Marya
Tierney, Michael Jensen, Patrick Jensen, Eric Jensen, and Jill Olden.
He was preceded in death by his son, Daniel; a step-daughter, Joyce; a
daughter-in-law, Joyce; a sister, Toni; and grandchildren Belinda and Mary.
Daniel was a retired steelworker with 45 years of service and a member of
the United Steelworkers of America. He belonged to Bethlehem Lutheran Church
and the Westchester Senior Group.
Funeral services, the Pastor Jane Aicher officiating, are scheduled for 11
a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 18. at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 2050W 1100N in
Chesterton. Burial to follow at Chesterton Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 17, at
White-Love Funeral Home, 525 S. Second St. in Chesterton, and from 10 a.m.
Wednesday until the time of service at Bethlehem Lutheran Church.
