Former Chesterton resident Joseph R. Jannelle of Michigan City died on Tuesday, June 30, 2009 at St. Anthony Memorial Hospital, Michigan City. He was 65.

Born on October 20, 1943 in Gary, he was the son of Pierre and Louise (Sussong) Jannelle. On March 8, 1969, he married Donna Kendall, who survives in Michigan City.

Also surviving are his mother, Louise Jannelle of Chesterton; son, Dwayne Stout of Terre Haute, Ind.; daughters Dawn Sturgeon (husband Rob) of LaPorte and Laurie Cox (Jeff) of Michigan City; brother, Dennis Jannelle of Chesterton; sister, Marianne Hellman of Chesterton; and four grandchildren.

Jannelle worked for the Duneland School Corp. for 17 years in the janitorial department.

The family will have a memorial service on Sunday, July 5, 2009 at 2 p.m. at First General Baptist Church, 5588 Hitchcock Road, Michigan City. Cremation will take place at Heritage Crematory, Portage. Burial of Ashes will take place at a later date in Chesterton Cemetery. Arrangements were handled by Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home in Chesterton.
