Chesterton resident Ethel Irene Marie Vivian died Sunday, Oct. 11, 2009 at
The Willows Rehab Center in Valparaiso. She was 92.
She was born in
Grand Forks, N.D. On Jan. 12, 1993 in Las Vegas, Nev., she married John
Vivian, who preceded her in death.
She is survived
by children Leona M. Miller (husband Roger) of Eugene, Ore., Adele Lundahl
(Carl) of Jackson Township, and Bill Waugh (wife Judy) of Presque, Wisc.;
sister Maxine Johnson (Bill) of Michigan City; many grandchildren; many
great-grandchildren; and many great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded
in death by siblings Helen Bensz; Alice Jackson; Jim, Ed, and Cora Barlow;
Doris Harding; Louise Logman; Jean Spires and Bill Barlow.
Ethel was a
member of the First United Methodist Church of Chesterton, the Women of the
Moose Lodge #935 of Michigan City, and Royal Neighbors of America Golden Rod
Camp. She was also a volunteer at the Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore and a
member of the Liberty Farm Bureau and of the Toast Mistresses of Valparaiso.
She enjoyed knitting and crocheted quilts and was an excellent seamstress.
Funeral services
will be held Saturday, Oct. 17 at 1 p.m. from the White-Love Funeral Home,
525 S. 2nd St., Chesterton, with Pastor Chris Newman-Jacobs officiating.
Burial will follow at Chesterton Cemetery. The family will receive friends
on Saturday from 11 a.m. until the time of service at 1 p.m. at the funeral
