Robert Hammerman, 78, of Chesterton, formerly of Chicago, passed away March 9, 2009 at Porter Valparaiso Hospital Campus, Valparaiso.

He was born September 23, 1930 in Chicago.

He is survived by his wife Lenore (nee Feuerstein); children, Janis (Rafael) Piedra, Helen Hammerman and Laura (Quint) Martin; grandchildren, Rebeca Piedra, Jasmina Piedra, Xochill (Eric) Roberts, Quint Martin III, Robert Shane Martin and McKenzie Martin; great-grandchildren, Brooklyn, Kingsli and Erob; brother, Larry (Anita) Hammerman; many loving nieces, nephews and friends.

He was preceded in death by siblings Jerome and Frieda Hammerman.

Funeral services will be at noon Friday, March 13 at the Weinstein Funeral Home North Shore Chapel 111 Skokie Blvd., Wilmette, Ill. Interment will be at Westlawn Cemetery.

Memorials in his honor may be given to Save the Dunes, 444 Barker Rd., Michigan City, IN 46360.
