Kirk M. Schmieg, 45, passed away on March 27, 2009 in Fenton, Mich., due to
a heart attack.
He was born November 2, 1963, in Chapel Hill, N. C., the son of Glenn
Schmieg of Milwaukee, Wis. and Nancy Schmieg Martin, of Chesterton, both of
whom survive him.
Other survivors are his stepfather James Martin of Chesterton, a sister
Rhiannon (John) Litus of Park Ridge, Ill., stepbrothers Sean Martin of
Chicago, Kieran (Lisa Marie) Martin of Lincolnwood, Ill., Kael (Karen)
Martin of James Island, S. C., Tadhg (Kim) Martin of Evanston, Ill., and
Padraig (Nicole) Martin of Chesterton; stepsisters, Siobhan Martin of Vernon
Hills, Ill., Deirdre Giese of Evanston, Ill., and Fiona Martin of
Chesterton; and his fiancˇe, Kathy Boldt of Fenton, Mich. He is also
survived by many nieces and nephews.
A stepsister, Moira Martin of Chesterton, preceded him in death.
Kirk's greatest love was people, and the more the merrier, which love was
reciprocated throughout his life. His passions were working with his hands
including carpentry, plumbing and electrical repairs among all other forms
of building maintenance. All manner of outdoor activities, his friends,
family and cats, were his pleasure.
Cremation took place on March 30, and a memorial service will be scheduled
at a later date.
