John Albert Anderson, 83, of Roswell, N.M., formerly of
Valparaiso, passed away January 6, 2009 in Roswell.
He was born August 9, 1925 the son of Lawrence S. Anderson
and Olga (Wallin) Anderson in Valparaiso, both of whom preceded him in
death.
He and Mary were married in the summer of 1958, in
Alexandria, Va. She survives in the family home.
In addition to his wife Mary, John is survived by two sons,
Michael DiNapoli of Roswell and Frederick DiNapoli of Phoenix, Ariz.; two
daughters, Debra Anderson of Round Rock, Texas and Vera Mein-Taormina; two
sisters, Olga Korthals of Chesterton and Mary Obermeier of Valparaiso; one
sister-in-law, Eloise Anderson of Boise, Idaho; his “best friend” and cousin
Russell Boehm of Florida; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; six
great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
John was also preceded in death by two sons, Mark Anderson
and Harry DiNapoli; three brothers; Douglas, William and Lawrence Anderson.
John was a very caring person, loving husband, amazing father
and grandfather. He was an avid sports fan, who enjoyed watching John Wayne
movies and loved to be Debra’s alarm clock.
Funeral services, Deacon Howard Herring officiating, will be
at 2 p.m. Sunday, January 11, 2009 at Anderson-Bethany Funeral Home Chapel,
2609 S. Main, Roswell, NM 88203. Interment will be
Monday, January 12, at 11 am at South Park Cemetery.
