Chesterton resident Joan G. Dickinson died Wednesday, Sept. 30, 2009 at Porter Hospital Valparaiso Campus, Valparaiso. She was 60.

Born in Valparaiso on Sept. 22, 1948, she was the daughter of Martin and Mildred (Stec) Bielawski. On June 20, 1970 in Chesterton, she married William R. Dickinson, Jr.

She is survived by son William J. Dickinson (wife Jessica) of Chesterton; daughters Dianna Atrosh (husband John) of Chesterton and Janna Everidge of Denver, Colo.; brother Martin J. Bielawski (Linda) of Franklin, Ind.; sisters Audrey L. Ehlert (Thomas) of Florida, Joyce C. Noyce (Jerry) of Littleton, Colo., Mildred M. Whittaker (George) of Missoula, Mont., Celeste M. Bradford (George) of Chesterton; grandchildren Billy, Austin and Brianna Dickinson and Alexander and Abbigail Atrosh; and close friend Donald Pratt of Chesterton.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband William in 2006, brother Dennis M. Bielawski, and sister Judith M. Blake.

Joan was a home maker and was active for many years with Duneland soccer. She enjoyed traveling and was a member of the Women’s Auxillary of Chesterton American Legion Post 170 and St. Patrick Catholic Church.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, Oct. 3, 2009 at 11 a.m. at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 638 N. Calumet Road, Chesterton with Father Lawrence Heeg officiating. Cremation will be at Heritage Crematory in Portage. A visitation will be held on Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. at Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home, 517 Broadway, Chesterton.
