Howard Maurice O’Guin, 85, of Murray, Ky., died in his home
Wednesday, February 18, 2009.
He was born August 16, 1923 in Humphreys County, Tenn., the
son of Paul Edwin and Verna (Scurlock) O’Guin both of whom preceded him in
death.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Katherine Barnard O’Guin.
He is survived by a son, Michael (Lynn) O’Guin of Naples,
Fla.; two daughters, Patricia (Dane) Potrzebowski of Jackson Twp. and
Kathleen (Kenneth) Swanson of Tallahassee, Fla.;
a brother, Edwin (Carol) O’Guin of Crown Point; two sisters, Doris
(Millard) Grell of Ocala, Fla. and Evelyn (Roy) Underwood of Nashville,
Tenn.; six grandchildren, Christopher (Joy) O’Guin, Collin (Rose) O’Guin,
Cory (Karla) O’Guin, Megan (Joe) Stutz, Erin Potrzebowski and Adam
Potrzebowski and one great-grandchild, Maizy O’Guin.
The last 20 years of his life was shared with his special
friend and loving companion, Mildred Canady of Murray, Ky.
Also preceding him in death were one child, Maureen O’Guin and
his siblings, Lois and Wayne O’Guin.
Howard moved to Murray from Valparaiso after retiring as an
auto/truck body mechanic. As a World War II veteran, he served in the Army
Signal Corps from 1943-1946. He remained a member of the Grand Lodge of the
Free and Accepted Masons of Indiana for over 55 years of which the majority
of the years were associated with the Dunes Lodge 741 F. & A.M.
A memorials service for family and friends will be February 24
at the Imes-Miller Funeral Home, 311 N. 4th St., Murray, Ky.
