Harry M. Short, 81, of Westville, passed away Wednesday March 25, 2009 at
Porter Hospital Valparaiso Campus.
He was born on July 11, 1927 in Pigeon, W.Va. the son of Charles Franklin
and Amma Mae (Jett) Short, both of whom preceded him in death.
Harry is survived by daughters, Shirley Ann (Irvin) Kanode of Lenoir, N.C.
and Barbara Jo (Chuck) Edson of Tempe, Ariz.; grandchildren Matthew (Lamanda)
Wyse of Michigan City, Brett (Jennifer) Wyse of LaPorte, and Jennifer (Mordicai)
Knode of New York City; great grandchildren Brett and Carley Wyse and many
nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by 10 brothers and two sisters.
Harry worked for American Bridge Division U.S. Steel as a fork lift
operator. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Hobart Lodge; a
member and past governor the Loyal Order of the Moose Chesterton Lodge 1623;
a lifetime fellowship degree of honor Loyal Order of the Moose; a lifetime
member of the Legion of the Moose Pottawattomie Moose Lodge #94; past
president of Porter County Council of Fraternal, Veterans and Social
Societies; and past vice president, Indiana Council of Fraternal, Veterans
and Social Societies.
A Moose service will be held Sunday, March 29, at 3 p.m. at Edmonds & Evans
Funeral Home, 517 Broadway, Chesterton. Interment will be in West Virginia.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 29, from noon until time of service
