H. Diane Scharfenberg, of Kissimmee, Fla., formerly of Chesterton, passed
away December 1, 2008 in Kissimmee, Fla. She was 71.
She was born April 2, 1937 in Steubenville, Ohio the daughter of Charles and
Marie (Becker) McConnell.
On May 9, 1958 in Steubenville, Ohio, she married David C. Scharfenberg, who
survives.
She is survived by three sons, Douglas (Michelle) Scharfenberg of Kissimmee,
Fla., Daryl (Colleen) Scharfenberg, of Ironton, Ohio and David L.
Scharfenberg of Columbus, Ohio; five grandchildren, Ashley, Megan, Ian,
Kiersten and Kyle and a sister, Donna Rayburn of Centerburg, Ohio.
Diane was a member of Augsburg Lutheran Church, a past member of the Junior
Women’s Club. She was employed as a secretary at Chesterton High School for
over 12 years and was a resident of Chesterton for 39 years.
A memorial service, Pastor Erik Bernth officiating, will be at 11 a.m.,
Friday, June 26 at Augsburg Lutheran Church, 100 N. Mineral Springs Road,
Porter.
