George Bogunovich, the father of Duneland residents, died Wednesday, Nov. 11, 2009, at Porter Valparaiso Hospital Campus. A resident of Portage, he was 89.

He was born Aug. 9, 1920, in Isabell, Pa.

On June 30, 1946, in Gary, he married Helen Munyas, who preceded him in death in 2005.

He is survived by his son, Gordon (Dawn) Bogunovich of Chesterton; his daughter, Joann (Joseph) Cincoski of Burns Harbor; his sister, Mary of California; grandchildren, Joseph Cincoski, Joshua Cincoski, and Jamie (John) Rader; and great-grandchildren, Jolie, John, James, and Jennifer Rader.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Joseph; and sisters Agnes, Mildred, and Helen.

George worked at the Bud Plant in Gary before retiring in 1980.

Funeral services, the Rev. Erik Bernth officiating, are scheduled for 1 p.m. Friday, Nov. 13, at Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home, 517 Broadway in Chesterton. Interment at Graceland Cemetery in Valparaiso.

Visitation is scheduled from 11 a.m. until the time of service Friday at Edmonds & Evans.

Memorials may be made either to the heart fund or to the Parkinson’s fund.
