Fran Morrison dies at 100

Former Porter resident Frances P. Morrison, 100, died Tuesday, July 7, 2009, at the Whispering Pines Heath Care Center in Valparaiso.

She was born Aug. 11, 1908, in Porter, the daughter of Frank E. and Amanda (Pillman) Peterson, who preceded her in death.

On May 25, 1966, she married Hugh S. Morrison, who also preceded her in death.

She is survived by two sisters, Marie Kluth and Grace Dolk, both of Chesterton; a brother, Roy (Corrine) Peterson of Chesterton; a sister-in-law, Millie Peterson of Porter; and many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and -nephews.

She was preceded in death by siblings Helen Wahl, Robert Peterson, and Paul Peterson.

Fran was a member of Augsburg Evangelical Lutheran Church in Porter. She was retired from the Quaker Oats Company in Chicago, where for many years she served as executive secretary to the vice-president. She enjoyed playing bridge and was an avid world traveler.

A memorial service, Pastor Erik Bernth officiating, is scheduled for 11 a.m. Monday, July 13, from Augsburg Lutheran Church, 100 N. Mineral Springs Road in Porter.

There will be no visitation.

Memorials may be made to Augsburg Church.
