Chesterton resident Evelyn M. Arnold Hill, 83, died Sunday, Dec. 27, 2009 at the Whispering Pines Health Care Center in Valparaiso.

She was born Aug. 19, 1926, in Tripoli, Wis., the daughter of Sam and Lempi (Wertenen) Hill, who preceded her in death.

She was also preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Drew Arnold; and by her second husband, Vernon Hill.

She is survived by a son, Sam Arnold of Porter; a granddaughter, Tracy (Mark) Melton of Chesterton; a great-grandson, Seth Melton of Chesterton; and a special niece, Karen (Harley) Frakes of Hales Corners, Wis.

She was preceded in death by a sister.

Evelyn was a homemaker and lived in Florida for a few years.

A memorial service will be held at a later date. Cremation at Heritage Crematory in Portage, with arrangements under the direction of Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home, 517 Broadway in Chesterton.

Memorials may be made to the Porter County Hospice Center.
