South Bend resident Emma Frances Tidaback, a long-time resident of Chesterton and of Dunedin, Fla., died Friday, August 28, 2009 in Memorial Hospital, South Bend. She was 93.

Born on Dec. 2, 1915 in Springfield, Ill., she was the daughter of Mary O’Day (Fishback) and John H. Hewins. On April 13, 1941 in Porter, she married Everett L. Tidaback, who preceded her in death on October 14, 1989 after 48 years of marriage.

She is survived by a daughter, Leslie (Charles Hilmer) Tidaback-Hilmer of Stevensville, Mich.; sons David (Mary Buss) Tidaback of St. Paul, Minn., Daniel Tidaback of Dunedin, Fla., Andrew Tidaback of Eugene, Ore. and Darrel (Laurel Thomas) Tidaback of South Bend; grandchildren Paul Tidaback, Ashen (Jason) Stafford, Aran (Angela Tidaback-Chacon) Tidaback, Jesse Tidaback, Gene Tidaback, Willow Thomas, Christina (Philip) Poole and Danielle (Adam) Brown; and great grandchildren, Maddison, Tanna, Jadon, Bailey, Miah, Chillis, Jasmine, Steven, Zachary, Alexander, Enola, and Nevin.

Frances was a loving and caring mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was a member of The Kirk in Dunedin and attended First United Methodist Church in South Bend. She will be sadly and greatly missed by all of those whose lives she touched.

A memorial service was held Sunday at the First United Methodist Church in South Bend. The Welsheimer Family Funeral Home, 521 N. William St., South Bend, assisted the family with arrangements.
