Donald Cash Vanderbrook dies at 50

Donald Cash Vanderbrook, 50, of Franksville, Wis., passed away Thursday, May 21, 2009 the result of an accident while participating in a bicycling race.

He was born in Howell, Mich., April 21, 1959, the son of William R. Vanderbrook of Grand Rapids, Mich., and the late Emily Vanderbrook.

Survivors include his daughter, Emily Ann Vanderbrook of Union Grove; sister, Vanessa (Paul) Kniola of Chesterton; brother, William “Bill” (MaryAnn) Vanderbrook of New Buffalo, Mich.; other relatives, colleagues, and many dear friends.

Don was a graduate of Elston High School, Michigan City, Class of 1978. Furthering his education he received a Mechanical Engineering Degree from Purdue University completing his MBA and additional professional certificates at later dates. Don was a former President and CEO of Hydrogen Engine Center, Algona, Iowa and was Director of Program Management and Product Support at Generac Power Systems, Inc. He was a holder of patents and a lover of things mechanical.

A Memorial Service, Rev. Cary Winn officiating, will be at 5 p.m., Sunday, May 31 at the First Reformed Church, 7110 Old Spring Street, Racine, Wis. Family and friends may meet Sunday at the church from 3 p.m. until time of service.

Don was a very giving person during his lifetime, and continues to do so through organ donation. Cremation has taken place and private interment will be held.

Arrangements are under the direction of Maresh-Meredith and Acklam Funeral Home, 803 Main St., Racine, Wis.
