Bob “Too Tall” Zuidervliet of Westville passed away on Wednesday, Oct. 14,
2009 in Valparaiso. He was 52.
Born June 6, 1957 in Patterson, New Jersey, he was the son of Robert and
Dorothy (Berryman) Zuidervliet, who survive of River Edge, NJ.
He is also survived by his wife, Darlene Zuidervliet of Westville; daughter
Alison Penland (husband Justin) of Auburn, Ind.; son Jake Zuidervliet of
Portage; stepchildren Candy Johns (Dale) of Westville, Jamie Bland of Fort
Wayne, and Jesus Juarez (wife Randi) of Porter; former wife and friend,
Joyce Russell of Portage; brother Ken Zuidervliet (Erin) of River Edge;
sister Nancy Curran (Rich) of River Edge; nine grandchildren; Aunt Cora; and
four nieces and one nephew.
Bob was an area resident since 1977, coming from New Jersey. He worked as a
millwright for Mittal Steel. He was a member of Porter County HAWG Hunters,
Harley Davidson Abate Association and Stroud’s Bad Boyz-Riding Dinner Club.
Bob was a beloved son, brother, husband, father, grandfather and friend and
will be missed.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Oct. 17 at 1 p.m. at the Edmonds
& Evans Funeral Home Portage Chapel, 6941 Central Ave., Portage. Visitation
will be held on Friday, Oct. 16 from 1 to 4 p.m. and from 5 to 8 p.m. and on
Saturday, Oct. 17 from 11 a.m. until the time of services at 1 p.m. at the
funeral home. Cremation will be performed at Heritage Crematory, Portage.
