Thomas J. Goreham of Las Cruces, New Mexico, formerly of Liberty Twp., passed
away Wednesday, Oct. 11, 2007 at home. He was 66.
He was born Jan. 6, 1941, in Chicago, the son of John and Marcia Goreham,
both of whom preceded in death.
In 1970 he and his wife Sonja were married in Kendal, Westmoreland, U.K. She
survives in Las Cruces.
He is also survived by daughters, Donna Goreham of the U.K., Rochelle
(Miguel) Rocha of Colo.; a son, John Goreham of Nevada; two granddaughters,
Paloma and Estrella Rocha; sisters, Elizabeth Goreham of State College, Pa.
and Susan Goreham Hollett of Wis.
A 1958 Liberty Twp. High School graduate, Tom grew up on a small farm at the
corner of Meridian Rd. and 1050N. He always preferred working with animals or
machinery. In 1965 he graduated from the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy in
Kings Point, N.Y. He learned to fly and in 1968, received his commercial
pilot’s license. Except for a two-year period as a flight instructor at the
Joliet, Ill. airport. Tom spent the bulk of his career at sea, with Lykes
Lines, retiring as Captain in 1995.
