Theodore Jack Burton, of Winter Garden, Florida, formerly of Chesterton,
passed away on August 7, 2008 in Orlando, FL.
He was born in Evanston, Ill.
He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, JoAnn, daughters, Debora Abel,
Karen Orisich (John) and son, Theodore J. Burton, Jr., grandchildren
Christopher and Matthew Abel, Sarah Orisich, Taylor and Nathan Burton,
brother Robert Burton, sisters, Susie Parrent, Linda Parrent and Jeanne
Parrent (Antoine Cabrol), mother-in-law, Josephine Ohsiek, sister and
brother-in-law, Carol and Gary Brandt, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Theodore R. Burton; mother, Alys M.
Parrent; step-father, William W. Parrent, and father-in-law, Eugene H.
Ohsiek.
He was a long time resident of Prairie Village, Kan., Chesterton, and New
Orleans, La., retiring to Winter Garden, FL in 2004. He made positive
contributions to the communities in which he lived and his greatest love was
his family. He was a graduate of Shawnee Mission High School, earned a B.S.
in Civil Engineering from the University of Kansas and a Masters of Public
Health from the University of Minnesota. He had a career in hospital
administration and construction with St. Mary Medical Center in Gary and
Hobart, Southern Baptist Hospital, Tulane Medical Center and the Ochsner
Clinic Foundation in New Orleans, La. He also spent time in Indonesia with
P.T. Freeport Indonesia helping to build the new town, Kuala Kencana.
A memorial service will be held in New Orleans, La. Private interment will be
in St. Louis, Mo. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes
Association.
