Shirley Louise Lawson, of Porter died January 21, 2008 at her home. She was
77.
She was born Nov. 10, 1930 in Michigan City, the daughter of Alex and
Gertrude (Zaideman) Janoski, both of whom preceded her in death.
In 1950 at St. Patrick Church, she married Charles Lawson, who passed away
Aug. 14, 2007.
She is survived by children, Rick (Darlene) Lawson, of Valparaiso, and Julie
(Don) Dayton, of Porter, eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by a son, David Lawson and two sisters, Doris
and Betty.
Shirley was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, Chesterton, and was a
volunteer with FISH group, NOPAC, and did volunteer work with the Table of
Plenty program at St. Pat’s. She enjoyed her grandchildren and family and
also loved all the students she served lunch to at Chesterton High School.
Her lunch line was known as “Grandma’s Line”. Shirley also loved her
co-workers and friends. She enjoyed yard work and collecting angels.
A Mass of Christian Burial, Fr. James Meade officiating, will be offered at
11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 26 at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 638 N. Calumet Rd.
The family will receive friends from 3-7 p.m. Friday at White-Love Funeral
Home, 525 S. 2nd St. Chesterton and Saturday from 10 a.m. until time of Mass
at 11 a.m. at St. Patrick Church.
The Rosary will be recited Friday at 5 p.m. at the Funeral Home.
Memorials may be given to St. Patrick’s Table of Plenty program, or to VNA
Home Hospice Program of Porter County.
