Robert 'Shrek' McCormick dies at 40

Robert “Shrek” McCormick age 40 of Chesterton, passed away on Thursday December 18, 2008 at St. Anthony Memorial Hospital, Michigan City. 

Robert was born in Valparaiso, on April 25, 1968 the son of William J. and Nadine A. (McLaughlin) McCormick, both of whom preceded him in death. 

On August 12, 1995 he married Samantha Shoupe, who survives in Chesterton. 

He is survived also by son Bobby Valentic of Chesterton; daughters, Amanda “Rooster” McCormick at home, Christ and Penny Valentic of Chesterton; brothers, William J. (Jasmine) McCormick IV of Portage, Gordon (Lori) McCormick of Burns Harbor, Michael (Patrice) McCormick of Porter; half brother William J. (Salli Ann) McCormick III of Porter; sisters, Debra McCormick of Burns Harbor, Cheryl Bonin of Chesterton, Patricia McCormick of Porter; grandchildren; Charles “Red” White, Nevaeh “Cherokee” Highsmith  and Summer Valentic; 14 nieces and nephews, best friends Gerry and Chrissy Cooper. 

Robert was an owner/operator self-employed truck driver.

A funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Monday, December 22, at Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home, 517 Broadway, Chesterton. Interment will be in Chesterton Cemetery. 

A visitation will be from 2-6 p.m. Sunday, December 21, at the funeral home. www.ee-fh.com
