Paul George Lazur dies at 83

Paul George Lazur, of Porter, passed away Thursday, April 10, 2008 in his home surrounded by his family and his faithful dog, Angel. He was 83.

He was born in Large, Pa. on Oct. 24, 1924, the son of John and Mary (Raposky) Lazur, both of whom preceded him in death.

He is survived by his wife, Diane; sons, Edward (Omega) Lazur and John (Mary) Lazur; sisters, Mary DeFeo and Eleanor Abbracheff of Pa.; grandchildren, Heather Jaroszewski, Joseph, Jason, Richard, Ashley, Elizabeth and Jessica Lazur; two great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was also preceded by brothers, John “Pepper”, George and Andrew “Barney” Lazur.

Paul had a great childhood and had many wonderful memories of growing up in “the patch” with his friends and siblings. He went on to proudly serve the United States in the Navy during World War II and the Korean War. He bravely fought in many battles. He returned to work at Midwest Steel and retired to Las Vegas in 1986 after 26 years of employment.
