Nancy J. Germain dies at 70

Nancy J. Germain, of Chesterton, passed away Monday, December 1, 2008 at St. Anthony Memorial Hospital, Michigan City. She was 70.

She was born August. 23, 1938 in Chicago.

On July 27, 1957 she married Ray F. Germain, who survives in Chesterton.

She is also survived by children Cameron Germain of Michigan City, Scott (Debra) Germain, of LaCrosse, Craig Germain, of LaPorte, Shannon (Michael Centola) of Atlanta, Ga. and Derek (Tina) Germain of Valparaiso.

Also surviving are 10 grandchildren, Heather, Craig, Alan, Ashley, Kymberly, Camille, Cheyenne, Sariah, Michael and Olivia.

She was preceded in death by her daughter Raydel Ann Germain; a brother, James Durkot, a sister, Helen Backus and her parents Anthony Durkot and Dorothy Wilson Durkot.

She is also survived by her favorite cat, Cleo.

Nancy graduated in 1956 from New Troy Michigan High School. She was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, Chesterton. She was the former owner of Buttons and Bows Children’s Store in Chesterton. She loved bowling and gambling at the Blue Chip in Michigan City and enjoyed canoeing and camping.

A Mass of Christian Burial, Fr. Gerald Schweitzer officiating, will be offered at 10:30 a.m., Friday, Dec. 5 at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 638 N. Calumet Rd. Chesterton. Interment will be at Swan Lake Memorial Gardens, Michigan City.

The family will receive friends from 4-8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 4 at White-Love Funeral Home, 525 S. 2nd. St., Chesterton.
