Mildred Mahaffey, of Chesterton, passed away Monday, May 5, 2008 in Chesterton. She was 80.

She was born on May 26, 1927 in Hammond, the daughter of Emerson and Ora (McCreary) Page, both of whom preceded her in death.

On June 11, 1949 in Hammond, she married Arthur E. Mahaffey, who preceded her in death in 2004.

She is survived by her son, Michael (Suzanne) Mahaffey of Porter; daughters, Carolyn (Rick Tubbs) Mahaffey of Wheeler, JoAnne Sperry of Elkhart, and Judith (Bruce) Jensen of Jackson, Mich.; brother, Paul (Florence) Page of New Lenox, Ill.; grandchildren, Crystal and Gabriel Jensen, Michael, Leslie, Andrew and Ariane Mahaffey, Constance and Danielle Sperry; and great grandchildren, Dylan Mahaffey and Marissade Roe.

Mildred was a lifelong area resident and a member of Chesterton First Baptist Church.

Funeral services, Rev. Larry Starett officiating, will be at 10 a.m. Friday, May 9, at Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home, 517 Broadway, Chesterton. Interment will be at Chesterton Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday, May 8, at the funeral home.
