Martin E. Jacobson service held

Chesterton resident Martin E. “Jake” Jacobson died Wednesday, Dec. 24, 2008. He was 72.

Born on May 29, 1936 in DuBois, Penn., he retired from Bethlehem Steel after 36 years of service. He was a volunteer firefighter for the fire departments in Chesterton, DuBois, and Highland.

He is survived by wife, Shirley; children Deborah Kellogg (husband Dale) of Valparaiso, Kim Jacobson of Highland, Gary Jacobson (wife Teresa) of Aurora, Ill., Lori Thoman (husband Bill) of Aurora; grandchildren Megan, Joshua, Brooke, Kelly, Paul and Peter; and sisters Mildred Haag and Janet Beck, both of Falls Creek, Penn.

He was preceded in death by his mother, father, two sisters and a brother.

A private family service was held today, Monday, Dec. 29, 2008 at the Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home, 517 Broadway, Chesterton. Interment will be at the Chesterton Cemetery.
