Joseph Zurek, Jr. dies at 55

Joseph Raymond Zurek, Jr. of Chesterton, passed away Wednesday, April 30, 2008 at his home. He was 55.

He was born Aug. 22, 1952 in LaPorte, the son of Joseph R. Zurek, Sr., and Carma J. (Coursel) Enright Zurek. His father preceded him in death on Jan. 13, 1976 and his mother on Jan. 31, 2004.

He is survived by his fiancee Patti Dickinson, of Chesterton.

He is also survived by two sisters, Diane (Larry) Knowlton, of Union Mills and Beth (Alan) Gernez, of Chesterton; two brothers, Ron (Julie) Zurek, of Chesterton, and Brian (Debbie) Zurek, of Portage; two step-sisters, Michelle Enright, of Chesterton and April (Mark) Dilingham, of Valparaiso; a niece, Shelley Passmore, nephews, Kevin and Kyle Zurek and Brad Gernez; several great nieces and nephews.

He was also preceded in death by his brother, Rick on Sept. 20, 1980 and his step-father, James Enright on Sept. 17, 2000.

Joe was owner of Zurek Well Drilling in Chesterton. He enjoyed hunting and Quad racing.

Funeral services, Fr. James Meade officiating, will be at 11 a.m. Monday, May 5, 2008 at White-Love Funeral Home, 525 S. 2nd St., Chesterton. Interment will follow at Chesterton Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 3-7 p.m. Sunday, May 4 at White-Love Funeral Home. For information, please call 926-1309.
