Joseph Dale Brown dies at 70

Joseph Dale Brown of Valparaiso, passed away on Wednesday, January 9, 2008 at Porter Hospital Valparaiso Campus, Valparaiso. He was 70.

He was born on May 28, 1937 in Mecca, Ind. the son of Leo Brown and Beatrice Hendricks Brown, both of whom preceded him in death.

He married Darlene Riley Brown who survives in Valparaiso.

Also surviving are sons, Leo (Kris) Brown of East Bethel, Minn., Brad (Mary) Brown of LaPorte, and Brian Brown of Valparaiso; a sister, Jane Ann (Gary) LaGrande of Waukegan, Ill. and two grandchildren, Joseph and Kassandra Brown.

He served in the U.S. Army, was a member of Pipe Fitters Union Local #597, and taught Industrial Welding at Ivy Tech in Hobart from 1979 to 1984 and Ivy Tech in Valparaiso from 1984 to 1992.

Besides his parents he was preceded in death by five brothers and three sisters.

Funeral Services, Rev. Rick Henderson officiating, were held on Saturday, January 12, at Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home 517 Broadway, Chesterton. Interment was at Chesterton Cemetery. A Visitation was on Saturday.
