Jared Oliver Altman, of Chesterton, passed away Monday evening November 3, 2008 at Porter Valparaiso Hospital Campus, Valparaiso. He was 18.

He was born November 8, 1989 in Goshen, the son of Steve and Ruth Altman, both of whom survive in Chesterton.

He is also survived by sisters and brothers, Stephanne Altman, Joshua Altman, Lydia Altman and Josiah Altman, all of Chesterton; paternal grandmother LaVerne Mauffrey, of Gulfport, Miss.; paternal grandfather, Oliver Altman, of Freeport, Fla.; maternal grandmother, Althea Haifley, of Syracuse, Ind. and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Jared was a member of Fairhaven Independent Baptist Church, Chesterton and was employed at Burger King Restaurant in Chesterton.

Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 7 at Fairhaven Baptist Church, 86 E. Oakhill Rd., Chesterton. Interment will follow at Chesterton Cemetery.

Memorials may be given to the family in Jared’s memory.
