Isabel E. Pestow dies at 82

Isabel E. Pestow, of Goshen, passed away at 1 a.m., Sunday, July 6, 2008 at The Courtyard Healthcare, Goshen. She was 82.

She was born May 1, 1926 in Valparaiso, the daughter of William C. and Ethel (Bull) Ruge, both of whom preceded her in death.

On Dec. 28. 1946 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Goshen, she married Bernard Pestow, who survives.

She is also survived by two daughters, Miriam J. (Timon) Kendall of Kalmazoo, Mich. and Sarah P. (Rob) Roeder of Goshen; two sons, Carl W. (Connie) Pestow and Benjamin (Tina) Pestow, both of Goshen; a sister, Martha May Etchason and a brother, Donald Ruge, both of Chesterton; 11 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

She was also preceded in death by a son, Patrick Pestow; three brothers, Richard, Byron and William Ruge and two sisters, Dorothy Gilmore and Ethel Ann Curtis.

She lived in Goshen since early high school. She was a homemaker and worked part time at Goshen News.

Funeral services, Minister and Church Father Christopher Smith officiating will be at 10 a.m., Thursday, July 10, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Goshen. Interment will be at Violett Cemetery, Goshen.

Friends may call from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., Wednesday, July 9 at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home and an hour before the service at the church on Thursday. Prayer Service Rosary will be at 4 p.m., Wednesday, July 9 at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home, 1911 S. Main St. Goshen.

She was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Goshen, where she was a member of the Rosary Society and Goshen High School Class of 1944. She was a Notre Dame and Chicago Cubs fan; enjoyed playing bridge with her friends and knitting for other people.

Memorials may be given to St. John's Rosary Society or American Cancer Society.
