Irene L. Hartmann, of Cincinnati, Ohio, died Sunday evening, February 3, 2008
at Miller’s Merry Manor, Portage. She was 95.
She was born Oct. 31, 1912 in Cincinnati, Ohio, the daughter of Charles and
Magdalena (Pfeffer) Bernhardt, both of whom preceded her in death.
On Dec. 16, 1933 in Cincinnati, she married Robert F. Hartmann, who preceded
her in death July 4, 1978.
She is survived by a son, Robert F. (Margo) Hartmann, of Dune Acres; a
daughter, Jean (David) Harrison, of Indianapolis; five grandchildren, Lori (Sakah)
Mahmod, of Lexington, Ky., Kathy (Charles) Wolf, of Chesterton, Steve (Carol)
Harrison, of Rochester, N.Y., Mike Harrison, of Indianapolis and Lisa (Orren)
Bethel, of Martinsburg, W.Va.; eight great-grandchildren, Malik, Alexandria,
Jeffrey, Elizabeth, Danielle, Bradley, Andrew and Emily.
She was also preceded in death by a brother, Ralph Bernhardt and a sister,
Viola Wehmeier.
Irene was a graduate of Woodward High School in Cincinnati, a member of Jobs
Daughters, Ogden Dunes Community Church, and was a long time member of
Westminister Presbyterian Church (St. John’s United) in Cincinnati. She
enjoyed playing bridge and was a long-time Cincinnati Reds Fan; she was a
great cook, and dearly loved her family, especially her grandchildren and
great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 7 (Cincinnati time) from
the interment chapel at Spring Grove Cemetery, 4521 Spring Grove Ave.,
Cincinnati.
There will be no visitation.

Hillcrest, Ogden Dunes, IN 46368, or to Porter County VNA Hospice Program,
501 Marquette St., Valparaiso, IN 46383.
Arrangements are under the direction of White-Love Funeral Home, 525 S. 2nd
St., Chesterton.
