Harry E. MacCubbin dies at 86

Harry E. MacCubbin, of Porter, passed away Monday, August 4, 2008 at his home. He was 86.

He was born on Sept. 7, 1921 in Sinclairville, N.Y. to William Cleveland and Lillian Adelphia (Jones) MacCubbin, both of whom preceded him in death.

On Aug. 6, 1949 in Dunkirk, N.Y., he married Mildred Graves, who preceded him in death in 2006.

He is survived by a son, Daniel A. (Carol) MacCubbin of Webster, N.Y.; a daughter, Sandra M. (Bruce) Snyder of Porter; a sister, Thyra DeCarlo of Bradenton, Fla.; six grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by a brother, William H. MacCubbin and sisters, Carol Payne, Maxine Josephson and Bessie Mathenson.

Harry was an area resident since 1998, coming from Dunkirk, N.Y. He was a veteran of the U.S. Coast Guard and a member of Fairhaven Baptist Church, where he enjoyed his involvement in the Jolly 60s. He worked as a driver/salesman for N.S. Briggs in Dunkirk, N.Y. from 1954 to 1961 and was a Lab Technician for Specialty Steel Corp. in Dunkirk, N.Y. from 1961 to 1984.

Funeral services, Pastor Don Whitecar officiating, will be at noon Wednesday, Aug. 6 at Fairhaven Baptist Church, 86. E. Oak Hill Rd., Chesterton. Interment will be Thursday, Aug. 7 at Willowbrook Park Cemetery, Dunkirk, N.Y.

Memorials may be made to the Jolly 60s at Fairhaven Baptist Church.
