Harold Miles dies at 90

Harold W. Miles, of Valparaiso, passed away on Monday, March 10, 2008. He was 90.

Harold was born in Terre Haute, on February 22, 1918 the son of Foster and Elsie (Miller) Miles.

On Dec. 6, 1941 in Terre Haute, he married F. Jane Lyon, who survives.

He is also survived sons, Eric (Joanne) Miles of San Francisco, Calif.; Gregory (Kathy) Miles of Indianapolis.; daughter, Karin (David) Yett of Patzcuaro, Mexico; five grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Helen Jane Grills.

Miles graduated from the University of Chicago and Harvard Business School. He served with the US Navy during WWII. Harold spent 22 years in the paint busiess, first as an owner of a business in Hammond, and later as CEO of MAB Paint in Terre Haute. In 1992 he became executive director of the Portage Chamber of Commerce, a position he held for 10 years.

Arrangements were handled by Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home. Cremation will take place at Heritage Crematory in Portage. There will be no services.

Memorials in Miles’ memory may be made to Dune Acres Civic Foundation, Inc., 21 Ridge Drive, Chesterton, IN 46304 in care of Howard Silverman.

A Memorial Service will be held at a later date. Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
