George P. Uskuraitis, of Chesterton, passed away at 11:10 p.m. Saturday, July
19, 2008 at The Waters of Duneland, Chesterton. He was 86.
He was born Aug. 1, 1921 in East Vandergrift, Pa. the son of Peter and Alice
Uskuraitis, both of whom preceded him in death.
He was also preceded in death by his wife Anna on May 5, 2002.
George is survived by his daughter, Georgianna (Kenneth) Appel, of
Chesterton; two granddaughters, Rachael (James) Manney, of Porter and Jessica
(Travis) Kadish, of Westville; a brother, Alphonse (Julianna) Uskuraitis, of
Apollo, Pa.; many nieces and nephews, sisters-in-law and brother-in-law all
living in Pa.
Also preceded him in death by brothers, John and Joseph.
George was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, Chesterton, where he
served as an usher for many years. He was a member of Chesterton Moose Lodge
# 1623 and had served in the Army/Air Force being stationed in Arizona and
Italy. He lived and worked in East Vandergrift, Pa. until 1961 when he and
his family moved to Chesterton. George retired as a Millwright at Midwest
Steel Co.
A Mass of Christian Burial, Fr. James Meade officiating, will be offered at
11 a.m. Wednesday, July 23 at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 648 N. Calumet
Rd., Chesterton. Interment will follow at Chesterton Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, July 22 at White-Love
Funeral Home, 525 S. 2nd St. Chesterton, where Rosary will be recited at 7:30
p.m.
Memorials in George’s memory may be given to St. Patrick Church.
