Ethel Pat Ann Curtis dies at 83

Ethel “Pat” Ann Curtis, of Valparaiso, passed away peacefully at home, Thursday, February 28, 2008. She was 83.

She was born Sept. 11, 1924 in Liberty Twp., the daughter of William and Ethel (Bull) Ruge, both of whom preceded her in death.

On May 25, 1947 in Valparaiso, she married Ermand P. Curtis, who preceded her in death March 19, 1999.

She is survived by a daughter, Barbara (Gary) Pullins of Valparaiso; a son, Gregory (Jane Bartelmo) Curtis of Valparaiso; three grandchildren, Kari (Michael) Brockway of Westville, Dawn (Michael) Curtis of Valparaiso and Parker (Mary) Curtis of Bloomington; three great-grandchildren, Alex, Julia and Sandra Curtis; sisters, Martha (Bob) Etchason of Chesterton and Isabelle (Bart) Pestow of Goshen; a brother, Donald (Bernice) Ruge of Chesterton and a sister-in-law, Margaret Ruge of Chesterton.

She was also preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy Gilmore and three brothers, Byron Ruge, William Ruge and Richard Ruge.

Ethel was a retired bookkeeper and a member of the Heritage Lutheran Church in Valparaiso. She loved spending time with her family and having her great grandchildren visit, traveling, watching sports and playing cards with friends.

Funeral services, Rev. Joseph Ostafinski officiating, will be at 11 a.m. Monday, March 3 at Bartholomew Funeral Home, 102 Monroe St., Valparaiso.

Visitation will be Sunday, March 2, from 2-6 p.m. at Bartholomew Funeral Home.
