Elsie Barlow, of Chesterton, formerly of
Weirton, W.Va., passed away
Wednesday, March 5, 2008 in the Whispering Pines Health Care Center,
Valparaiso. She was 93.
She was born Sept. 24, 1914 in Manor, Pa., the daughter of Cecelia and John
Susa, both of whom preceded her in death.
She was the wife of Louis Barlow, who preceded her in death Feb. 19, 1976.
She is survived by children, Loretta (Jerry) Wright, Bertha “Dolly” (Sandy)
Muscara, Louis (Rachel) Barlow, Regina (William) Pashe and Lawrence (Shelly)
Barlow; nine grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews,
cousins and dear friends.
She was also preceded in death by sisters, Rose Persin and Bertha Petrovic
and brothers, John Susa and Albert Susa.
Elsie enjoyed playing pinochle, playing endless games of bunco, baking
wonderful Slovenian pastries and traveling around the world. She was a
long-time member of the Royal Neighbors of America, Chesterton Chapter, where
she proudly served her community. She was a devout member of St. Patrick’s
Catholic Church and a member of the Slovenian Society.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 12
at Saint Columbkille Church, Route 30 Imperial, Pa., followed by interment in
Holy Souls Cemetery, Robinson Twp., Pa.
The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., Tuesday, March 11, at
the Wharton-Herrick Funeral Home, 951 Cliff Mine Rd., Imperial, Pa., phone
