Deborah J. King (Lipton) dies at 56

Deborah J. King , 56, of Jackson Twp., passed away Wednesday December 10, 2008. 

She is survived by her husband of 22 years, Alan Lipton; sons: Evan and Alex Lipton; mother, Sylvia King; brother, Richard (Katrina Munro) King; sister, Judith (Stephan) Sargant; father in law, Dr. Sherman P. (late Dorothy) Lipton; brother-in- law, Dr. James (Abby) Lipton; nieces: Jessica King and Lauren Lipton; nephews: Michael King, Jamie Sargant, Brad and Josh Lipton and many aunts, uncles and cousins. 

She was preceded in death by her father, Vic King and brother, Gerald King. 

Deborah and her family have been residents of Liberty Township for about 14 years and Jackson Township for a year before that, having moved here from Northern California.

Deborah had been a critical care RN for over 30 years, the last 15 at Methodist Hospitals in Gary and Merrillville. At the time of her death she was a coordinator, responsible for the functioning of whichever hospital she was at.  

Born in Bristol, England and raised in Cardiff, Wales, Deborah J. King was an extraordinary person, wife, mother and registered nurse.

Respected and loved by everyone who met her even briefly, she was a friend and inspiration to all whose lives she touched. Deb could be counted on to help anyone in need or provide comfort to those who were troubled. Always ready to joke, play and have a great time, Deborah was the life of the party. Adored by her loving husband, sons and family her loss is devastating.

A memorial service was held on Saturday December 13, at 11 a.m. from Centennial Park Club House, 1005 S. Centennial Dr., Munster. Donations in Deborah's name may be made to either a breast cancer foundation or to a fund to be set up in Deborah’s name for nursing education at the Methodist Hospitals, Merrillville and Gary.
