David Edward Owens, formerly of Chesterton, passed away on February 28, 2008 in Winter Park, Fla. after a brief illness. He was 52.

David was born Sept. 20, 1955 in Sewickley, Pa. He was preceded in death by his mother, Kathryn Owens, and father, Warren Owens.

He is survived by four siblings: Diane Burge of Winter Springs, Fla., Marilyn (Harry) Porter of Valparaiso, Rose (Rob) Pomeroy of Porter, and Albert Owens of Phoenix, Ariz. He is also survived by nine nieces and nephews.

David was a 1973 graduate of Chesterton High School. In the late 1970s he was co-proprietor of Oak Construction in Chesterton. He went on to enjoy a successful 25 year career in commercial property management.

David had a lively spirit and showed great courage in his final days. His sisters will miss their tender-hearted brother.

A memorial service will be held in Chesterton later this spring.
