Bozena Drozda, of Salt Lake City, Utah, formerly of Furnessville, passed away
June 12, 2008 at the age of 98 at Christus St. Joseph Villa in Salt Lake
City.
Born April 6, 1910 in St. Louis, Missouri the daughter of Michal and Janina
Sobieraj Milonski, she married Albert Drozda in 1936.
She is survived by her children Susan (Michael) Jones of Salt Lake City,
Utah; Joseph (Cynthia) Drozda of Ft. Wayne, Ind.; brother Mitchell (Jean)
Milonski of St. Louis; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
“B” resided in Furnessville and Chesterton from 1948 to 1966, and was
president of the PTA, The League of Women Voters, Kappa Kappa Kappa
philanthropic sorority, and United Presbyterian Women. She was also active in
the Save the Dunes Council, and served as an Elder and Deacon at the
Presbyterian Church of the Dunes. She was named Chesterton Mother of the Year
in 1954.
She retired to Florida in 1966, where she shared many happy times with other
retirees from Chesterton. Upon Albert’s death in 1979, she returned to her
roots in St. Louis, where she remained reconnected with her childhood friends
and relatives. She moved to Salt Lake City in 2002.
“B” was multilingual, was a world class track and field athlete, a talented
artist and singer, and as a senior, served in several volunteer positions and
won medals in the national Senior Olympics until age 85, but her most notable
achievement was the many lives she touched with her unconditional love,
generous spirit, and humor.
Visitation will be June 27 at Stygar Funeral Home in Florissant, Mo. The
funeral will be June 28 at John Knox Presbyterian Church in Florissant, Mo.
Interment will be at St. John’s United Church of Christ in Chesterfield, Mo.
