Betty Pearl Click, of Valparaiso, passed away March 10, 2008 at Porter
Valparaiso Hospital Campus, Valparaiso. She was 77.
She was born June 22, 1930 in Haldeman, Ky., the daughter of William and
Jessie Lewis, both of whom preceded her in death.
In 1950 in Gary, she married her life long friend John Click, Jr., who
survives.
She is also survived by two daughters, Patricia Joyce (Roger D.) Childers and
Kathy Lynne (George S.) Patitsas, and her son John William Click, all of
Valparaiso and six grandchildren, Amy E. (Terry) Dixon of Valparaiso, Amanda
R. (Kevin) Childers-Martin of Portage, Megan L. Click of Chesterton,
Christopher R. Childers of Highland and Jessica L. Click of Chesterton,
Margaret L. Patitsas of Valparaiso; brothers and sister, Paul (Joanne) Lewis
of Clinton, Ill., Jack (Faye) Lewis of Haldeman, Ky. Joyce (Daniel) Lewis of
Elliotsville, Ky. and Daniel (Amelia) Lewis of Morehead, Ky.
She was also preceded in death by her eldest son, James R. (Roxann) Click of
Chesterton and her brother, James R. Lewis of Morehead, Ky.
Betty was a graduate of Haldeman High School in 1948 and began teaching in a
one-room schoolhouse in Paragon, Ky. She led a happy, active life, surrounded
by her family and friends, and was a member of Bethel Primitive Baptist
Church, which she served as clerk. She had a lifelong love of reading, which
she imparted to all of her children and grandchildren. She was a loving wife,
mother, and grandmother to her family. She was dearly loved and will be
sorely missed.
The family will receive friends from 3-8 p.m. Wednesday, March 12 at
White-Love Funeral Home, 525 S. 2nd St., Chesterton.
Services will be held at Morehead, Ky. with visitation on Friday and
interment Saturday in the Newsill Cemetery.
