Audra Pauline Sorba dies at 90

Audra Pauline Sorba, of Chesterton, passed away on Tuesday, April 29, 2008. She was 90.

Audra was born on March 15, 1918 in Salem, W. Va. the daughter of Ansley Madison and Laura (Hacker) Coen, both of whom preceded her in death.

She was married on January 10, 1942 to Michael Sorba, who preceded her in death.

She is survived by a son, John “Doc” (wife Linda) Sorba of Grovertown; two grandchildren, Elizabeth and Jade Sorba; and a great grandchild, Maxwell Sorba.

Audra was also preceded in death by two brothers Jennings and Peck Coen; three sisters, Cora Blanchard, Thelma Coen and Dessie Everroad.

She was a business woman and owner of Holiday Park and a member of the First Baptist Church in Chesterton. She was a member of the Red Hat Society, a former member of the America Legion Women’s Auxiliary and the VFW Women’s Auxiliary.

Funeral Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 3, at Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home Portage Chapel. Cremation will follow at Heritage Crematory. Interment of ashes will take place in Calumet Park Cemetery in Schererville.

Visitation will be held on Saturday from 10-11 a.m. at Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home Portage Chapel, 6941 Central Ave., Portage.
