Alvin Peter Gorski, of Westville, passed away Tuesday, June 10, 2008 at Porter Memorial Hospital. He was 90.

He was born Jan. 6, 1918 in Michigan City the son of Peter and Jennie (Dudeck) Gorski, both of whom preceded him in death.

On Oct. 26, 1940, he married Leona Kucharski, who also preceded him in death.

He is survived by three children, James A. (Laurie) Gorski of Westville, Alvin L. (Theresa) Gorski of Minn., and Judith A. (Greg) MacDonald of Valparaiso; one sister, Irene Turley; eight grandchildren, Robert T. (Isabel) Nielsen of Union Mills, Donna (Matthew) Zimmerman of Chesterton, Jeffrey (Jenni) Nielsen of Valparaiso, Jamie (Tom) Poczekay of Westville, Timothy (Lynn) Gorski of Minn., Christopher (Susan) Nielsen of Mich., Michelle (Scott) Jirele of Minn. and Jennifer (Jason) Herma of Westville and 15 great-grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Ralph Gorski and Edward Gorski and an infant sister, Evelyn Gorski.

Alvin worked at Allis Chalmers Manufacturing and as a self-employed farmer, and was a member of the Indiana Carpenterís Union Local #1485. He was a member of Moose Lodge #980 and the St. Joseph Menís Society in Michigan City.

Funeral services, Fr. Jerry Schweitzer officiating, will be at 11 a.m. Monday, June 16 at St. Mary Catholic Church. Interment will be at St. Mary Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. Sunday at Newhard Funeral Home, 58 West Walnut St., in Westville.
