Allen M. Sundwall, of Valparaiso, passed away Thursday, March 13, 2008 at the Porter Hospital Valparaiso Campus. He was 79.

He was born on Aug. 31, 1928 in Porter the son of Allen and Mamie (Miller) Sundwall, both of whom preceded him in death.

He is also survived by two children, Lynne (Tom) Uban of Valparaiso and Mark (Wendy) Sundwall of LaPorte; four step-children, Chuck (Tammy) Leverich of Valparaiso, Patricia (Fred) Krueger of Dade City, Fla., Jeff (Onica) Leverich of Valparaiso, and Laura (John) Burgmeier of Marietta, N.Y.; two grandchildren, Joel Uban and Victoria Sundwall; 11 step-grandchildren, Caitlyn, Corey, and Connor Leverich, Ann, Katharine, and Michael Krueger, Joshua, Kayla, and Gracie Leverich, and Colin and Katrina Burgmeier; and sister, Audrey (Bud) Schneider of Chesterton.

He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Janet (Babcock) Sundwall on July 12, 1987.

Allen graduated from Chesterton High School in 1946. He attended Valparaiso University for one year and then graduated from Purdue University in 1951 with a Degree in Pharmacy. Allen was a Pharmacist and Partner at Torbeson Drugs, Valparaiso until 1969. He then went on to work at Sievers/Fagen Pharmacy until he retired in 2001. Allen was a Veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church of Valparaiso and the Sports Car Club of America. Allen also served for 13 years as the Director of the 13-15 year old baseball league at the Valparaiso Parks Department.

Funeral service, The Rev. Dr. John J. Santoro and The Rev. Freda Scales officiating, will be at 3 p.m. Sunday, March 16 at Trinity Lutheran Church 201 N. Washington St., Valparaiso. Cremation will take place at Angelcrest Crematory, Valparaiso.

Visitation will be Saturday from 4-8 p.m. at Moeller Funeral Home 104 Roosevelt Rd., Valparaiso and Sunday at the church from 2 p.m. until the time of service.
