Alan O. Rippe services set

Chesterton resident Alan O. Rippe died surrounded by family at his home on Monday, April 21, 2008. He was 61.

He is survived by his loving wife Karen; children Steven (Shilo) Rippe, Brandy Rippe, and Carie Rippe; stepchildren Michael (wife Sara) Greenside, Angie (husband Steven) Lung, Shawn Greenside, Kimberly George and Stevie Keller; grandchildren Andrew, Dalton, and Corbin Rippe, Mya Ream and Alyssa Stanford; brother, Ivan Rippe and three sisters, JoAnn, Ernestine and Arlene and a cousin, David Rippe.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Karl and Mildred Rippe, brothers, Larry Rippe and Karl Rippe, Jr. and a sister, Loretta Weck.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 26, 2008 at the Living Word Sanctuary Church, 737 N. State Road 149, at Noon with Pastor Dorris Dunlap officiating Friends may meet with the family on Saturday at the church from 9 a.m. until time of the service. Burial will take place at the Chesterton Cemetery.

Al was a decorated Army Vietnam War Veteran who received a Bronze Star Medal and three Army Commendation Medals for Heroism in Ground Combat. He was also a member of the American Legion Post 170 in Chesterton and the National Rifle Association and was retired from the Operating Engineers Local 150.

An obituary for Alan O. Rippe that appeared in Friday’s edition, should have read that Alan is survived by a brother, Ivan Rippe and three sisters, JoAnn, Ernestine and Arlene and a cousin, David Rippe.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Karl and Mildred Rippe, brothers, Larry Rippe and Carl Rippe, and a sister, Loretta Weck.
