Sandy Allison, of Portage, passed away September 5, 2008 at home after a long
illness. She was 50.
She was born October 15, 1957 in Sharon, Pa.
She is survived by father, James Kirkman of Portage; paternal father, John (Tula)
Hardesty of Sharon, Pa.; a daughter, Chrystal (Adam Schrader) Greenwell of
Columbia City; a son, Daniel Greenwell of Merrillville; daughters, Christine
and Jayme Allison of Burns Harbor; a granddaughter, Sadie Schrader of
Columbia City; a sister, Joy (Ronald) Simkunas of Willow Springs, Ill.; a
step-sister, Linda (Bob) Savage of Crete, Ill.; step-brother, David (Judy)
Kirkman of Chesterton; nephew Michael (Heather) Hershman of Lake Station; and
a cousin, Ken (Amy) Patton of Portland, Ore.
She is preceded in death by Freda Kirkman in July 1993.
Sandy was a member of the ROTC and graduated from Portage High School in
1976. She served in the United States Navy. She was an EMT and a prison
guard. Sandy was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints
and The Relief Society.
Funeral Services will be Sept. 8, at 12:30 p.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ
of Latter Day Saints, 503 Burlington Beach Road, Valparaiso. Interment will
be at McCool Cemetery, Portage.
Visitation will be Sept. 8, from 10 a.m. until 12 p.m. at The Church of Jesus
Christ of Latter Day Saints. Flowers may be sent to The Church of Jesus
Christ of Latter Day Saints. In lieu of flowers memorial gifts may be made in
care of Chrystal Greenwell.
