Wilma M. Nelson, of Portage, passed away Thursday, May 10, 2007 in Portage at
her daughter’s home surrounded by family. She was 81.
She was born Aug. 8, 1925 in Gary, the daughter of Winfred and Elsie
(Schmidt) Whalen, both of whom preceded her in death.
On Aug. 11, 1950 in Valparaiso, she married Donald E. Nelson, who preceded
her in death Sept. 28, 2000.
She is survived by three daughters, Donna (Tom) Frary of Chesterton, Linda
Larson of Portage and Judy (Walter) Fultz of Portage; grandchildren, Mike
(Julie) Fultz, Deanna (Gary) Frazo, Laura Larson, Paul Larson, Michelle (Jim)
Miller and Lina Gilmer; great-grandchildren, Robert Ashford, Diamond Miller,
James Nolan, Mark and Brandon Nevil, Adrianna, Bradley and Cora Frazo,
Raylene Larson, Zoe and Ava Strouse and Daniel Harper.
She was also preceded by brother, Jack and Winfred Whalen; a sister, Ruth
Smith and a grandson, Raymond Larson.
Wilma was a home maker. She was a member of Real Life Community Church.
A funeral service, Pastor Bob Burton officiating, will be at 11 a.m. Monday,
May 14 at Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home. Interment will be at McCool Cemetery,
Portage.
Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. Sunday, May 13 at Edmonds & Evans Funeral
Home, 517 Broadway, Chesterton.
Memorials may be made to the VNA Hospice Center, 510 Marquette St.,
Valparaiso, IN 46383.
