Richard J. “Jim” Leady, of Chesterton, passed away Sunday, Sept. 16, 2007 at
VNA Horton Hospice Center. He was 62.
He was born June 3, 1945 in Gary, the son of William Russell and Alice
(Grappin) Leady, both of whom preceded him in death.
On June 11, 1983 he married Ann Urbanek, who survives in Chesterton.
He is also survived by sons, Zack Leady of Chesterton and Richard “Richie”
(Elayne) Leady of Chesterton; a daughter, Yvette (Christain) Lambersie of
Chesterton; step-daughters, Bonnie (Paul) Pugh of Chesterton and Kathy (Mike)
Waldkoetter of Trenton, Ohio; a brother, William Jay (Linda) Leady of
Ludington, Mich.; sisters, Jean Sitar of Michigan City and Jeanne Steward of
Sand Point, Idaho; 10 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by a brother, Roger Allen Leady.
A funeral service, Fr. James Meade officiating, will be at noon, Wednesday,
Sept. 19 at Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home, 517 Broadway, Chesterton. Interment
will follow in Chesterton Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at Edmonds & Evans
Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to the VNA Horton Hospice Center, 501 Marquette Rd.
Valparaiso or the Humane Society.
