Rev. Irving K. Bruhn passed away March 2, 2007 at the Michaelsen Health
Center, Batavia, Ill. He was 89 years old.
He was born July 1, 1917 in Hammond to Daniel and Selma (Roos) Bruhn, former
Chesterton residents.
On Dec. 30, 1939 he married Evelyn Swanson, who preceded him in death in
1996.
Surviving are his second wife Dagmar and his two children, Rebecca Gibson of
Pasadena, Calif. and Karl (Danielle) of Batavia, and three grandchildren;
sisters, Mrs. Alyce Scott of Chesterton and Mrs. Louise Lovell of Austin,
Texas, nephew, Dan Bruhn of Chesterton, and nieces Mary Ann (Ron) Paul and
Eva (Hugh) Hopkins.
He was preceded in death by his sister Florence Spangle and brother Eugene
Bruhn.
He graduated from Griffith High School in 1935. For many years he was a
Baptist and Methodist minister in South Dakota, New York and Illinois
(Batavia, Lanark, Berwyn, Hazel Crest and Oak Park) and he later raised
funds for churches (Board of Global Ministries). He retired in 1982.
His body was donated to Loyola Medical School.
Memorial services will be held at a later date.
